Bakpa Chiefs Commit to Peace and Community Development at BaYEF’s Chiefs Conference 2024

The Bakpa Youth Empowerment Foundation (BaYEF) has successfully hosted the Bakpa Chiefs Conference 2024, a significant gathering aimed at fostering unity, preserving cultural heritage, and promoting sustainable development within the Bakpa Traditional Area. Held from November 6th to 8th at Suncity, the three-day event brought together all chiefs, queens, and headmen of the Bakpa Traditional Area to address the future of their communities.


The conference provided a vital platform for traditional leaders to discuss issues related to community progress, governance, and the preservation of Bakpa’s rich cultural heritage. Through workshops and panel discussions led by esteemed guest speakers, participants explored strategies for community empowerment and the pivotal role of traditional leadership in fostering sustainable growth.


Guest speakers included Togbega Kadzi Zogah II, Paramount Chief of Sokpoe Traditional Council; Togbega Abutia Kodzo Gidi V, Paramount Chief of Abutia Traditional Council; Mamaga Agar Kakator II, Paramount Queen of Agave Traditional Council; Mamaga Sename III, Paramount Queen of Mafi Traditional Council; Togbe Kokroko Ananse Titriku XIII, Acting Paramount Chief for Dorfor Traditional Area; Mamaga Adzo Sreku IV, Paramount Queen of Mepe Traditional Area; Togbe Boapo IV, Divisional Chief of Mafi Sasiekpoe; Mr. Michael Avenorgbo, Lecturer at UPSA; and Mr. Sam Agbevem, Executive Director of BaYEF.


Mr. Sam Agbevem highlighted the importance of the conference, stating, “The BaYEF Chiefs Conference 2024 is an opportunity to blend traditional values with progressive strategies, enabling Bakpa to thrive. Our vision is to create a harmonious and resilient community where our youth, culture, and values can flourish.”


As a youth-driven organization, BaYEF emphasized the importance of youth development throughout the conference. Traditional leaders were encouraged to support initiatives that empower young people, acknowledging their role as essential contributors to the future of Bakpa. 


The conference concluded with a strong sense of unity and commitment, as participants pledged to implement the insights and ideas shared during the event. BaYEF remains dedicated to driving community-led initiatives in partnership with Bakpa’s traditional leaders, working toward a shared vision of progress and cultural pride.
